Western University

Western University is the brand name of the University of Western Ontario, abbreviated UWO, a public research university in London, Ontario, Canada. It was branded as Western University in 2012 to shed a regional identity, while its legal name, the University of Western Ontario, still appears on transcripts and diplomas西安大略大学的法定英文校名为「the University of Western Ontario」，简称 UWO，2012 年起对外使用品牌名「Western University」，本条目即按品牌名立条。法定校名至今仍印在成绩单与毕业证书上。

History

• The university was founded on 7 March 1878 by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth of the Anglican Diocese of Huron as the Western University of London, Ontario, opening with four faculties of arts, divinity, law and medicine, and it incorporated Huron College, which Hellmuth had founded in 1863, so that the college and the university share the same progenitor大学由圣公会休伦教区主教艾萨克·海尔马瑟于 1878 年 3 月 7 日以「安大略省伦敦西部大学」之名创办，最初设艺术、神学、法学与医学四个学院，并合并了他于 1863 年创立的休伦大学学院——学院与大学由此同出一源。
