Vldb Journal
The VLDB Journal is a bimonthly journal founded in 1992 and published by Springer on behalf of the VLDB Endowment, covering information system architectures, data management technology and novel database applications, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 5.3《VLDB
Scope
- Information system architectures and the technology that underpins them, including system level design for data intensive computing
- Data management in the broad sense, from data models and query processing to indexing, storage and transaction management
- Novel database applications and the impact of new technology on data systems
- E-services, multimedia databases and other application domains that the journal has addressed through its special issues
- Emerging research themes, among them foundation models for data management and spatio-temporal data analytics
- Experimental and benchmarking studies that test data management technology on real workloads and systems
- An annual selection of the strongest papers presented at the VLDB conference, published as a dedicated issue每年从(VLDB)会议中精选最优论文,以专期形式发表。
History
- Volume 1, number 1 appeared in July 1992 under Springer Verlag, issued for the VLDB Endowment, the organisation that also runs the annual VLDB conference第 1 卷第 1 期于 1992 年 7 月由(Springer Verlag)出版,代表(VLDB Endowment)发行,该组织同时主办一年一度的(VLDB)会议。[1]
- It was created as the archival journal of the very large data base community, complementing the conference with a venue for extended and journal length treatments of database research该刊作为超大规模数据库学界的存档期刊而创办,与会议互补,为数据库研究提供篇幅更长、达到期刊规格的发表渠道。
- It appears six times a year, reached volume 33 in 2024, and devotes one issue each year to selected papers from the VLDB conference该刊每年出版 6 期,2024 年出至第 33 卷,每年有一期专门刊载(VLDB)会议的精选论文。
- It is a hybrid journal, so authors may publish through the subscription route or choose open access, and more than 140 articles are currently open access
- Its Journal Impact Factor was 2.868 in 2021, 4.243 in 2022, 3.8 in 2024 and 5.3 in
- It ranks in the first quartile for computer science hardware and architecture at 12 of 60 and for computer science information systems at 62 of
Editors
- Nesime Tatbul of Intel Labs and MIT in the United States is the coordinating editor-in-chief协调主编为(Intel Labs)与(MIT)的 Nesime Tatbul。
- Nikos Mamoulis of the University of Ioannina in Greece is one of the editors-in-chief, working on spatial and temporal data management主编之一为(University of Ioannina)的 Nikos Mamoulis,研究方向为时空数据管理。
- Kyuseok Shim of Seoul National University in Korea is the third editor-in-chief, working on query processing and data mining第三位主编为(Seoul National University)的 Kyuseok Shim,研究方向为查询处理与数据挖掘。
- About thirty associate editors serve the journal, drawn from Waterloo, Illinois Tech, Stuttgart, TU Wien, Harvard, McGill, British Columbia, Duke, Zurich, Google and IBM Almaden among others该刊约有三十名副编辑,分别来自(Waterloo)、(Illinois Tech)、(Stuttgart)、(TU Wien)、(Harvard)、(McGill)、(British Columbia)、(Duke)、(Zurich)、(Google)与(IBM Almaden)等机构。
- A larger review board screens submissions, and the journal follows single blind peer review, in which reviewers know author identities but authors do not know reviewers规模更大的评审委员会负责初筛,期刊采用单盲同行评审,即评审人知晓作者身份而作者不知评审人身份。
- Special issues are guest edited, with proposals assessed under published guidelines, and recent examples cover spatio-temporal data management and the use of foundation models in data management专题辑由客座编辑主持,选题提案按公开指南评估,近期实例包括时空数据管理以及基础模型在数据管理中的应用。
