The University of Science and Technology Beijing, abbreviated USTB, is a national key public university in Haidian District, Beijing, directly under the Ministry of Education, built mainly around engineering, and it is a member of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Construction.北京科技大学（英文简称 USTB）是位于北京市海淀区的一所教育部直属全国重点公立大学，以工为主，并是「211 工程」与「双一流」建设高校。

It was founded in 1952 from the mining and metallurgy departments of six leading Chinese universities and was named the Beijing Institute of Steel and Iron, becoming the first higher education institution for the steel industry in the People's Republic of China.该校于 1952 年由国内六所著名高校的矿冶系科组建而成，初名北京钢铁工业学院，是新中国建立的第一所钢铁工业高等学府。

History

• USTB traces its intellectual lineage to 1895, when the Beiyang Western Learning School established China's first modern mining and metallurgy discipline.北京科技大学的历史渊源可追溯至 1895 年，北洋西学学堂创办了中国近代史上第一个矿冶学科。
