University of Portsmouth (UoP) is a public university in the port city of Portsmouth on the south coast of England, whose institutional origins trace back to the Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art of 1870.朴茨茅斯大学（简称 UoP）是英国南海岸港口城市朴茨茅斯的一所公立大学，其办学渊源可追溯到1870年创立的朴茨茅斯与戈斯波特科学与艺术学校。

History

• The institution traces its roots to the Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art, established on 1 June 1870 to give technical instruction to the engineers and skilled workers of the city's docks.该校的源头是1870年6月1日创立的朴茨茅斯与戈斯波特科学与艺术学校，其宗旨是为城市船坞的工程师与技术工人提供技术教育。
