The University of Ottawa, commonly called uOttawa, is a bilingual public research university in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada, and it is the largest English-French bilingual university in the world.渥太华大学（University of Ottawa，简称 uOttawa）是位于加拿大首都安大略省渥太华的公立研究型大学，也是全球规模最大的英法双语大学。

History

• The university was established on 26 September 1848 as the College of Bytown by Joseph-Bruno Guigues, the first Roman Catholic bishop of Ottawa, who entrusted its administration to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.1848 年 9 月 26 日，渥太华首位天主教主教约瑟夫—布鲁诺·吉格（Joseph-Bruno Guigues）创办拜镇学院，并把校务委托给无玷圣母献主会（Oblates of Mary Immaculate）。

• A fire destroyed the university's main building on 2 December 1903, after which the New York architect A. O.
