University of North Texas

The University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research university in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex of Texas, United States, whose main campus stands in the city of Denton, about 35 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth. History

• The university opened on 16 September 1890 as the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute, founded by Joshua Crittenden Chilton, who leased rooms above a hardware store on the Denton square and welcomed seventy students and nine courses, promising that the school would train young men and women of Texas to fill the most important positions in business and professional life.该校于 1890 年 9 月 16 日以 「Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute」之名开学，由约书亚·克里滕登·奇尔顿（Joshua Crittenden Chilton）创办；他在登顿广场一家五金店楼上租下房间，招收 70 名学生、开设九门课程，并承诺为德州青年男女培养能胜任商业与专业生活中最重要岗位的人才。
