University of Kent

The University of Kent, formerly known as the University of Kent at Canterbury, is a British university based in Kent that was founded by royal charter in 1965, and in August 2026 it merged with the University of Greenwich to form the London and South East University Group.肯特大学（英文全名 University of Kent，旧称 University of Kent at Canterbury）是一所位于英国肯特郡的大学，1965 年经皇家特许状创立，并于 2026 年 8 月与格林尼治大学合并，组成伦敦与东南大学集团。

History

• The idea of a university in Kent was first considered in 1947, but it was in 1959 that the Kent County Council Education Committee explored the concept and on 24 February 1960 the council formally accepted the idea in principle.在肯特郡创办大学的构想最早于 1947 年被提出，但直到 1959 年肯特郡议会教育委员会才就此展开探讨，1960 年 2 月 24 日郡议会正式在原则层面上接纳了这一构想。
