The University of Jordan is a public research university in Amman, the capital of Jordan, established by royal decree on 2 September 1962, the oldest and largest institution of higher education in the kingdom, organised into 25 faculties and home to more than 200,000 living graduates.约旦大学是位于约旦首都安曼的一所公立研究型大学，1962 年 9 月 2 日依皇家敕令创办，是该国最古老也规模最大的高等学府，设有 25 个学院，培养的健在毕业生已超过 20 万人。

History

• The university was founded by royal decree on 2 September 1962 during the reign of King Hussein, after discussions with Prime Minister Wasfi al-Tal, to give Jordanians a national university at a time when they still had to study in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon or the West, and it was the first university in the country.该大学于 1962 年 9 月 2 日在国王侯赛因在位期间依皇家敕令创办，此前曾与首相瓦斯菲·塔勒商议，目的是在约旦人仍须赴叙利亚、埃及、黎巴嫩或西方求学的年代里为其建立一所自己的大学，它是约旦的第一所大学。
