University of Georgia

The University of Georgia, also known as UGA or simply Georgia, is a public land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant research university whose main campus is in Athens, Georgia, United States.佐治亚大学（University of Georgia，简称 UGA）是一所公立赠地·赠海·赠太空研究型大学，主校区位于美国佐治亚州雅典市。

History

• In 1784 Lyman Hall, a Yale graduate and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, as Governor of Georgia persuaded the state legislature to grant 40,000 acres as an endowment for founding a college or seminary of learning.1784 年，耶鲁毕业生、《独立宣言》签署者 Lyman Hall 以佐治亚州州长身份说服州议会拨出 40000 英亩土地，作为创办一所学院或学府的捐赠基金。
