The University of Cyprus (UCY, Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου) is a public research university in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, established by law in 1989 as the first university ever created on the island and as a body governed by public law.塞浦路斯大学（University of Cyprus，简称 UCY；希腊语 Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου）是位于塞浦路斯首都尼科西亚的一所公立研究型大学，依据法律于 1989 年设立，是该岛有史以来的第一所大学，也是一所依公法设立的法人机构。

History

• In 1989 the Republic of Cyprus established the University of Cyprus by law as a body governed by public law, making it the first university ever created on the island and the fulfilment of a long-standing national aspiration.1989 年，塞浦路斯共和国依据法律以公法法人机构的形式设立了塞浦路斯大学，使其成为该岛有史以来的第一所大学，也实现了该国长期以来的夙愿。
