Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is a public research university located in Serdang in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, and it is the largest of the national universities of the country博特拉大学（马来语：Universiti Putra Malaysia，简称 UPM）是位于马来西亚雪兰莪州沙登的公立研究型大学，也是马来西亚规模最大的国立大学

The institution began as an agricultural college in 1931, was renamed an agricultural university in 1971 and adopted its present name in 1997, after it had already diversified from agriculture into science, technology and the humanities该校前身为1931年创办的农业学校，1971年升格为农业大学，1997年在已由农业向科学、技术与人文学科扩展之后改用现名

History

• The School of Agriculture was established on 21 May 1931 in Serdang on 22 acres, that is 9 hectares, of land, offering at first only a three-year diploma and a one-year certificate in agriculture农业学校于1931年5月21日在沙登创办，校址占地22英亩即9公顷，最初只开设三年制农业文凭课程与一年制农业证书课程

• The motto of the university is the Malay phrase Berilmu Berbakti, translated as with knowledge we serve and rendered in Chinese as 博学济世, and it links knowledge directly to service学校校训是马来文「Berilmu Berbakti」，英释为「以知识服务社会」，中文可译为「博学济世」，把知识与服务直接相连
