The University of Beira Interior (Portuguese: Universidade da Beira Interior, abbreviated UBI) is a public university in the hill town of Covilhã in central Portugal, created in 1979 out of the Polytechnic Institute of Covilhã and organised in five faculties.贝拉英特拉大学（葡萄牙语：Universidade da Beira Interior，简称 UBI）是位于葡萄牙中部科维尔亚山城的一所公立大学，1979 年在科维尔亚理工学院的基础上组建，下设五个学院。

It takes its name from Beira Interior, the inland part of the historical Beira province corresponding today to the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco, and it is one of the youngest public universities in Portugal.校名取自贝拉英特拉，即历史贝拉省的内陆部分，相当于今日的瓜达区与卡斯泰洛布兰库区，它也是葡萄牙最年轻的公立大学之一。

History

• In August 1973, following a major change in the Portuguese national higher education system, the government established a polytechnical institution in Covilhã, the Polytechnic Institute of Covilhã, which was the first higher education institution in the city.1973 年 8 月，葡萄牙全国高教体制经历重大变革，政府在科维尔亚设立理工学院，即科维尔亚理工学院，这是该城市第一所高等教育机构。
