It was founded in 1919 by Americans devoted to education and service in the Middle East under the American Mission in Egypt, sponsored by the United Presbyterian Church of North America, and its founding president Charles A. History

• The American University in Cairo was founded in 1919 by Americans devoted to education and service in the Middle East, established as an English-language university and preparatory school under the American Mission in Egypt.开罗美国大学于 1919 年由一批致力于中东教育与服务的美国人创办，最初是埃及美国传教团属下的一所英语授课大学与预科学校。
