Taiyuan University of Science and Technology

Taiyuan University of Science and Technology is a public, engineering-centred university in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China, and describes itself as the first undergraduate institution for heavy machinery in New China.太原科技大学是位于中国山西省太原市的一所以工为主的公立大学，自称新中国第一所重型机械本科院校。

It grew out of the Shanxi Provincial School of Mechanical Manufacturing Industry, founded in 1952, and took its present name in October 2004 after more than four decades as the Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Institute.学校前身为1952年创办的山西省机械制造工业学校，在经历四十余年的太原重型机械学院时期后，于2004年10月改用现名。

History

• In 1952 the Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry founded the Shanxi Provincial School of Mechanical Manufacturing Industry and appointed Zhi Bingyuan, an internal combustion engine expert, as its first president.1952年，山西省工业厅创办山西省机械制造工业学校，并聘请内燃机制造专家支秉渊担任首任校长。
• In 1953 the school was renamed the Taiyuan Machinery Manufacturing School and transferred to the First Ministry of Machine Building of the central government.1953年，学校更名为太原机械制造学校，并划归中央第一机械工业部管理。

Campus
