Sungshin Women's University

Sungshin Women's University (Korean: 성신여자대학교) is a private women's university in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, South Korea, founded in 1936 by the educator Lee Sook-chong.诚信女子大学（韩文：성신여자대학교）是韩国首尔特别市城北区的一所私立女子大学，1936 年由教育家李淑钟（Lee Sook-chong）创办。

The university teaches about 12,000 students in 45 departments spread across ten colleges and five graduate schools, and it runs two campuses inside Seoul.该校在十个学院、45 个系与五个研究生院中培养了约 12000 名学生，并在首尔市内拥有两个校区。

History

• Lee Sook-chong, an educator trained in the 1930s, opened Sungshin Girls' School on 28 April 1936 with a small teaching staff and a mission to give Korean women a formal education.受过 1930 年代师范训练的教育家李淑钟于 1936 年 4 月 28 日创办诚信女学校，当时师资寥寥，使命是为韩国女性提供正规教育。
• The name Sungshin combines 誠 for sincerity and 信 for trust, a pairing that the school adopted as its guiding principle and that survives in the university's Korean and Chinese names.校名「诚信」由「诚」的真诚与「信」的守信组合而成，学校以此作为办学宗旨，这一名称至今保留在韩文与中文校名之中。
• After the 1945 liberation the school rebuilt its teaching and expanded its intake, and by the 1960s it had outgrown the status of a secondary girls' institution.1945 年光复后，学校重建教学并扩大招生，到 1960 年代其规模已超出中等女校的定位。
