Southern Methodist University (SMU) is a private research university in University Park, Texas, in the Dallas metropolitan area, with a satellite campus in Taos County, New Mexico. History

• The university was chartered on 17 April 1911 by the southern denomination of the Methodist Episcopal Church, whose leaders saw the need to establish a Methodist institution within a fast-growing metropolitan area of Texas.该校由美以美会南方教派于 1911 年 4 月 17 日特许设立，教会领袖认为有必要在德克萨斯州一座快速发展的都市地区建立一所卫理公会机构。
