Southeast University

Southeast University, known in Chinese as Dongnan Daxue and located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, is a public research university whose lineage reaches back to the Sanjiang Normal College founded in 1902 and which took its present name in May 1988.东南大学位于江苏省省会南京，是一所公立研究型大学，其源流可上溯至 1902 年创办的三江师范学堂，并于 1988 年 5 月定现名。

History

• The university's lineage begins with the Sanjiang Normal College, founded in Nanjing in 1902 under the late Qing programme of modernising education, which in 1905 became the Liangjiang Normal College.学校的源流始于 1902 年在南京创办的三江师范学堂，它是清末兴学育才的产物，1905 年改称两江师范学堂。

• The scholar and calligrapher Li Ruiqing served as supervisor of the Liangjiang Normal College from 1905 to 1911, and the Mei'an building on the Sipailou campus commemorates him.学者与书法家李瑞清于 1905 至 1911 年任两江师范学堂监督，四牌楼校区内的梅庵即是为纪念他而建。

• Guo Bingwen was the founding president of the National Southeast University in 1921 and is regarded as a pioneer of modern Chinese higher education.郭秉文于 1921 年出任国立东南大学首任校长，被视为中国现代高等教育的先驱。

• Li Ruiqing, supervisor of the Liangjiang Normal College from 1905 to 1911 and a celebrated calligrapher, is commemorated by the Mei'an building on the Sipailou campus.1905 至 1911 年任两江师范学堂监督的李瑞清是著名书法家，四牌楼校区的梅庵即为纪念他而建。
