Soochow University

Soochow University is a provincial key comprehensive university in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, a Double First-Class institution under the Ministry of Education and a member of the 211 Project, and it is placed in the 701-710 band of the 2027 QS World University Rankings.苏州大学是一所位于中国江苏省苏州市的省属重点综合性大学，教育部「双一流」建设高校、国家「211 工程」成员，在 2027 年 QS 世界大学排名中处于 701-710 区间。

Its origins include Soochow University founded in 1900, the Wuxi College of Chinese Studies founded in 1920 and two provincial and national colleges of education founded in 1928 and 1941, and it was reconstituted as Suzhou University in 1982.其前身包括 1900 年创办的东吴大学、1920 年创办的无锡国学专修学校，以及 1928 年与 1941 年创办的两所省立与国立教育学院，并於 1982 年改制定名为苏州大学。

History

• The Soochow University lineage began in 1900 with the founding of Soochow University by the American Methodist missionary David L. Anderson, who became its first president.苏州大学的源流始于 1900 年，由美国基督教监理会传教士孙乐文创办东吴大学，他本人出任首任校长。
