Shanghai University

Shanghai University, abbreviated SHU, is a municipal public research university in Shanghai, China, run by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and co-administered by the Ministry of Education, and it is a member of both Project 211 and the Double First-Class Construction.上海大学（英文简称 SHU）是中国上海的一所市属公立研究型大学，由上海市人民政府举办、与教育部共建，同时是「211 工程」与「双一流」建设高校。

It traces its historical origins to the university of the same name founded on 23 October 1922, which was the first regular university founded and actually led by the Chinese Communist Party, while the present-day institution was established in 1994 through the merger of four Shanghai institutions.其历史渊源可追溯至 1922 年 10 月 23 日成立的同名大学，那是中国共产党主导创办并实际领导的第一所正规大学；现建制的上海大学则于 1994 年由沪上四校合并组建。

History

• Shanghai University traces its historical origins to the university of the same name founded in Shanghai on 23 October 1922, which was the first regular university founded and actually led by the Chinese Communist Party.上海大学的历史渊源可追溯至 1922 年 10 月 23 日在上海成立的同名大学，那是中国共产党主导创办并实际领导的第一所正规大学。

• The new Shanghai University was inaugurated on 27 May 1994, with the university's name inscribed by President Jiang Zemin, the mayor Huang Ju unveiling the plaque, and Qian Weichang appointed as president.新的上海大学于 1994 年 5 月 27 日成立，国家主席江泽民题写校名，市长黄菊揭牌，钱伟长出任校长。
