Seed Biology

Seed Biology is a gold open access, online-only journal launched in 2022 by the Yazhou Bay Seed Laboratory and published by Maximum Academic Press, devoted to fundamental seed biology from gametogenesis to germination, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 5.3《种子生物学》（Seed Biology）是 2022 年由崖州湾种子实验室创办、由（Maximum Academic Press）出版的金色开放获取纯在线期刊，专注从配子发生到种子萌发的基础种子生物学研究，2025 年影响因子为 5.3。

Scope

• Seed evolution and the processes that lead to seed formation, including sporogenesis and gametogenesis, are central topics种子演化以及导致种子形成的过程（含孢子发生与配子发生）是核心议题。
• Pollination and fertilization, apomixis and artificial seeds are covered传粉与受精、无融合生殖与人工种子均在范围内。
• Regulation and manipulation of seed yield, and the nutrition and health-related quality of endosperm, cotyledons and the seed coat, are studied种子产量的调控与改造，以及胚乳、子叶与种皮的营养和健康品质，均属研究对象。
• Seed dormancy and germination, seed vigor and longevity form another axis种子休眠与萌发、种子活力与寿命构成另一条主线。
• Interactions of seeds with the environment and with other microbes, and the role of seeds in fruit development, are included种子与环境及其他微生物的互作，以及种子在果实发育中的作用也被纳入。

History

• The journal was launched in May 2022, and its inaugural editorial opened volume 1 in the same year该刊于 2022 年 5 月创刊，创刊社论于同年开启第 1 卷。^[1]
• It was founded by the Yazhou Bay Seed Laboratory in Sanya, Hainan, in partnership with Maximum Academic Press and under the supervision of the Hainan Department of Science and Technology该刊由海南三亚的崖州湾种子实验室与（Maximum Academic Press）合作创办，主管部门为海南省科学技术厅。
• In September 2022 it was selected for the high-starting-point new journal track of the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan, and in November 2023 it received approval from the National Press and Publication Administration该刊于 2022 年 9 月入选中国科技期刊卓越行动计划高起点新刊项目，2023 年 11 月获国家新闻出版署批准创办。
• A launch press conference was held at the Yazhouwan National Laboratory on 14 December 20232023 年 12 月 14 日，创刊新闻发布会在崖州湾国家实验室举行。

• Wei-Cai Yang of the Yazhouwan National Laboratory in Sanya, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is editor-in-chief and works on plant reproduction, fertilization and embryogenesis主编（Wei-Cai Yang）为中国科学院院士、三亚崖州湾国家实验室研究员，研究植物生殖、受精与胚胎发生。
• Li-Yu Chen of the Center for Genomics and Biotechnology at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University is executive editor, working on pollination and fertilization, self-incompatibility and crop domestication执行主编（Li-Yu Chen）任职于福建农林大学基因组与生物技术研究中心，研究传粉与受精、自交不亲和与作物驯化。
• Seven senior associate editors include Alice Y.
