Rice Science

Rice Science is a bimonthly peer reviewed journal sponsored by the China National Rice Research Institute in Hangzhou and published in partnership with Elsevier, established in 1990 under the earlier title Chinese Rice Research Newsletter, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 7.4 and a rank of sixth among 133 agronomy journals《水稻科学（英文版）》（Rice Science）是由位于杭州的（China National Rice Research Institute）主办、与（Elsevier）合作出版的双月刊同行评审期刊，1990 年以《中国水稻研究通报》之名创刊，2025 年影响因子 7.4，在 133 种农学期刊中列第 6 位。

Scope

• Breeding and genetics form the largest strand, covering germplasm improvement, quantitative genetics and the design of new rice varieties育种与遗传学构成最大板块，涵盖种质改良、数量遗传学以及新品种设计。
• Molecular biology and biotechnology are published alongside classical breeding, including functional genomics, gene editing and transgenic approaches in rice分子生物学与生物技术与经典育种并列刊载，包括水稻功能基因组学、基因编辑与转基因方法。
• Germplasm resources are treated as a research subject in their own right, from collection and conservation to characterisation and use in pre-breeding种质资源被视为独立研究对象，从收集保存到性状鉴定及其在预育种中的利用。
• Agronomy and plant physiology cover crop establishment, nutrient use, water management, canopy physiology and yield formation under contrasting environments农学与植物生理涵盖作物建成、养分利用、水分管理、冠层生理以及不同环境下的产量形成。

History

• The journal began in 1990 as the Chinese Rice Research Newsletter, a vehicle for communicating rice research in English, and was later renamed Rice Science with a new ISSN该刊 1990 年以《中国水稻研究通报》之名创办，作为以英文传播水稻研究成果的载体，后更名为《水稻科学》并启用新的国际标准刊号。
• It is sponsored by the China National Rice Research Institute, which was itself established in Hangzhou in 1981 with State Council approval, and is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs该刊由（China National Rice Research Institute）主办，该研究所于 1981 年经国务院批准在杭州成立，期刊由农业农村部主管。

Editors

• The editor-in-chief is Hu Peisong, a rice scientist at the China National Rice Research Institute现任主编为（Hu Peisong），他是（China National Rice Research Institute）的水稻科学家。
• Cheng Shihua, a rice breeder at the same institute, served as editor-in-chief before Hu and is now recorded as honorary editor-in-chief该所水稻育种家（Cheng Shihua）在（Hu Peisong）之前任主编，现列为荣誉主编。
• The editorial office sits inside the institute on Rice Institute Road in Fuyang, Hangzhou, and handles submissions through the publisher's online system编辑部设于杭州富阳水稻所路的研究所院内，通过出版方在线系统处理投稿。
