Scope
The journal's editorial stance takes two principal psychological dimensions as its core, requiring that a paper fall within them: the psychological responses of patients and of their families and carers at all stages of disease, and the psychological, behavioural and social factors that may influence the disease process. The journal also stresses cross-disciplinary boundaries, actively drawing on the clinical disciplines of oncology, epidemiology, immunology, endocrinology, biology, pathology, bioethics, palliative care and rehabilitation medicine.
- Patients' psychological responses: emotional response and psychological adjustment at the stages of diagnosis, treatment, recurrence and end of life.
- Family and carers: psychological burden, caregiving experience and intervention needs among patients' families and carers.
- Quality of life: appraisal and intervention for cancer-related symptom burden, functional status and health-related quality of life.
- Psychosocial intervention: the application of psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural intervention, peer support and social work in oncology care.
- Behavioural and biological convergence: the influence of psychosocial and behavioural factors on the disease process, and the relation of biomarkers with psychosocial variables.
The journal is a hybrid title. The subscription route charges authors nothing, while open access carries an article processing charge. The publisher publishes neither an acceptance rate nor a review duration for this title, and the library's previous notes of relatively easy acceptance and an average of three to eight weeks had no official basis and have been deleted. The journal is indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded and carries a 2025 impact factor of 3.9.
