History

• The journal was launched in 1949 as Progress in Metal Physics under its founding editor Bruce Chalmers该刊 1949 年以 Progress in Metal Physics 之名创刊，创始主编为 Bruce Chalmers。
• It was renamed Progress in Materials Science in 1961 to reflect its broadening beyond metal physics1961 年更名为 Progress in Materials Science，以反映其研究范围超出金属物理领域的扩展。
