Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction
Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction, abbreviated PACM HCI, is an online-only journal published by the Association for Computing Machinery since 2017, covering research on the intersection of people and computing, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 4.9.《ACM 人机交互汇刊》(Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction,PACM HCI)由该学会自 2017 年起出版,为仅在线出版的期刊,刊载人与计算系统交叉领域的研究,2025 年期刊影响因子为 4.9。
Scope
- New systems for input and output are a core area, from novel interaction techniques and devices to the software that supports them.
- Studies of user experience with computing systems are published, using methods such as ethnography, surveys, controlled experiments and system implementation.
- Work on the individual and group effects of computer mediation is in scope, from cognition and collaboration to community and organisational change.
- Societal impacts of new forms of human-computer interaction are treated as first-class research topics rather than as background context.
- New methodologies, tools, theories and models that advance human-computer interaction research are welcomed.
- Visionary and survey papers are accepted, and the journal is organised into tracks spanning cooperative work, engineering interactive systems, eye tracking, games, group work, interactive surfaces and mobile interaction.
History
- The Proceedings of the ACM series was initiated by ACM in 2015 as an overarching framework for journal-style publication, and PACM HCI was approved by the ACM Publications Board on 12 January 2017.(ACM)于 2015 年发起(Proceedings of the ACM)系列,作为期刊式出版的总体框架,(PACM HCI)于 2017 年 1 月 12 日获(ACM)出版委员会批准。
- Volume 1 opened with the EICS issue in June 2017, followed by a CSCW issue in November 2017, so the journal began with two issues a year. [1]
- Its defining feature is that each issue is named after a track rather than a season, with CSCW appearing twice a year as CSCW1 and CSCW2 alongside GROUP, ETRA, EICS, MobileHCI, CHI PLAY and ISS issues.
- As more SIG conferences joined, the annual issue count rose from two in 2017 to seven in 2021 and eight from 2022, and Volume 10 covers 2026.
- There is no print edition and no separate ISSN per track, so every issue carries the same online ISSN 2573-0142.
- ACM became a fully open access publisher on 1 January 2026, and Proceedings articles carry a subsidised article processing charge of USD 350, waived for authors at ACM Open institutions.(ACM)自 2026 年 1 月 1 日起全面转为开放获取出版,(Proceedings)类文章的补贴后文章处理费为 350 美元,作者所在机构若参加(ACM Open)则可免除。
- The 2025 Journal Impact Factor is 4.9, placing it Q1 in computer science, cybernetics at rank 8 of 34 and Q2 in information systems at rank 77 of 266 within ESCI.2025 年期刊影响因子为 4.9,在(ESCI)的计算机科学控制论类别位列(Q1),排名 8/34,在信息系统类别位列(Q2),排名 77/266。
Editors
- Jeff Nichols of Apple is Editor-in-Chief.
- A supervisory editorial board sits above the track boards, with one chair assigned to each track: Andrew Duchowski for ETRA, Casey Fiesler for GROUP, Kathrin Gerling for GAMES, Mark Hancock for ISS, Fabiano Pinatti for CSCW, Marcos Serrano for Mobile and Lucio Davide Spano for EICS.
- Each track has its own chairs, associate editors and deadlines, and chairs serve staggered two-year terms so that at least one experienced chair is always in place.
- Track chairs are drawn from institutions in Germany, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Denmark, Finland, China, Brazil, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, India and Portugal.
- Two information directors, Xinru Page of Brigham Young University and Jacob Thebault-Spieker of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, handle the journal's public information.
- Review is run per track rather than centrally, and the first CSCW issue drew 385 submissions, sent 207 to revision and accepted 105, about 27%, with 101 associate chairs and 885 reviewers involved. [2]
