History
- BioMed Central launched the journal in 2005 as an online-only, open-access title, in the years when the Arabidopsis genome and other plant genome projects were reshaping the field.(BioMed Central)于 2005 年创办本刊,采用纯在线、开放获取模式,正值拟南芥基因组及其他植物基因组计划重塑学科格局之时。
- Its founding rationale, still stated on the journal site, is that technical innovation is the strongest catalyst in plant science and that methods should be harmonised where possible.
- Papers are published continuously, each with its own identifier, and one volume is closed in each calendar year, the first in 2005.
- The journal is funded by article processing charges, with no subscription barrier, and articles are published under a CC BY licence.
- It belongs to the BMC series, which now sits within Springer Nature, and submissions run through Springer Nature's editorial system.
- The 2025 Journal Impact Factor is 5.2, after 4.4 in 2024, 5.827 in 2022 and 4.993 in 2021.2025 年期刊影响因子为 5.2,2024 年为 4.4,2022 年为 5.827,2021 年为 4.993。
- In the Journal Citation Reports it ranks 12th of 85 in Biochemical Research Methods and 39th of 285 in Plant Sciences, both first quartile.
