Petroleum Exploration and Development

Petroleum Exploration and Development is a bimonthly open-access journal founded in 1974 and sponsored by the PetroChina Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, issued simultaneously in Chinese and English, with the English international edition launched in 2008 and a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 10.7《石油勘探与开发》（Petroleum Exploration and Development）是 1974 年创刊、中国石油勘探开发研究院主办的开放获取双月刊，中英文版本全球同步发行，英文国际版于 2008 年推出，2025 年影响因子为 10.7。

Scope

• The journal covers all aspects of petroleum sciences, including petroleum geology, geophysics, geochemistry, the exploration and development of oil and gas fields, reservoir engineering, reservoir protection and stimulation, oil storage and transportation, oil and gas chemistry, petroleum machinery, petroleum business administration and the history of the petroleum industry该刊覆盖石油科学的全部方面，包括石油地质、地球物理、地球化学、油气田勘探与开发、油藏工程、油层保护与增产、油气储运、油气化学、石油机械、石油经营管理以及石油工业史。
• Its columns are petroleum exploration, oil and gas field development, petroleum engineering, comprehensive research and academic discussion, with newer columns on carbon neutrality, new energy and new areas该刊设有油气勘探、油气田开发、石油工程、综合研究与学术讨论等栏目，并新设碳中和、新能源与新领域栏目。
• Its stated purpose is to disseminate current science and technology for petroleum and to publish the latest theoretical and technological developments and research results relating to petroleum geology, oil and gas field development and petroleum engineering in China and worldwide其办刊宗旨是传播交流石油科学技术最新进展，刊发中国与世界范围内石油地质、油气田开发与石油工程领域的新理论、新技术与新成果。
• It publishes original papers in Chinese and English in parallel editions, with contributions from abroad translated into Chinese for the domestic edition and Chinese contributions translated into English for the international edition该刊以中英文两种版本平行出版，国外论文译成中文收入中文版，中国论文译成英文收入英文国际版。
• Peer review is conducted under the responsibility of the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development of PetroChina同行评审由中国石油勘探开发研究院负责组织。

History

• The journal was founded in 1974 as a half-yearly publication, became bimonthly in 1975, switched to quarterly in 1976 and has been bimonthly again since 1977该刊于 1974 年创刊，初为半年刊，1975 年改为双月刊，1976 年改为季刊，1977 年起恢复双月刊并延续至今。
• It was indexed by Ei Compendex in 2001该刊于 2001 年被（Ei Compendex）收录。
• In 2008 it began worldwide distribution and launched its international English edition on the ScienceDirect platform2008 年该刊开始全球发行，并在（ScienceDirect）平台推出英文国际版。
• It was indexed by the Science Citation Index in 2013, and the eighth editorial board was formed in 2014该刊于 2013 年被（SCI）收录，第八届编委会于 2014 年成立。
• In 2015 it was selected into the first batch of academic journals recognized by the former State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of China该刊于 2015 年入选原国家新闻出版广电总局第一批认定学术期刊名单。
• Publishing moved to KeAi Publishing, and the journal now operates as a subsidized open-access title under a CC BY-NC-ND licence with copyright transferred to the sponsoring institute该刊改由（KeAi）出版，现为作者免收费的补贴型开放获取期刊，采用（CC BY-NC-ND）许可，版权转让给主办研究院。
• Its impact factor rose from 3.803 in 2021 and 5.194 in 2022 to 8.0 in 2024 and 10.7 in 2025, and it has ranked first in the petroleum engineering category for four consecutive years其影响因子由 2021 年的 3.803 与 2022 年的 5.194 升至 2024 年的 8.0 与 2025 年的 10.7，并连续四年位居石油工程学科第一。

• Zhao Wenzhi of the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development, PetroChina, serves as editor-in-chief现任主编为（Zhao Wenzhi），任职于中国石油勘探开发研究院（RIPED）。
• Dai Jinxing of the same institute is honorary editor-in-chief（Dai Jinxing）任名誉主编，任职于同一研究院。
• Gao Xingjun is executive editor-in-chief and Shan Dongbai is associate editor-in-chief, while Li Guoxin directs the editorial board and Dou Lirong serves as executive deputy director（Gao Xingjun）任执行主编，（Shan Dongbai）任副主编，（Li Guoxin）任编委会主任，（Dou Lirong）任执行副主任。
• Lichen Song heads the editorial office, which is located at 20 Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing（Lichen Song）任编辑部主任，编辑部位于北京市海淀区学院路 20 号。
