Scope

• The journal is dedicated to improving knowledge and clinical practice in the palliative care of patients with far advanced disease, and it reflects the multidisciplinary approach that is the hallmark of effective palliative care.本刊致力于提升晚期疾病患者姑息治疗领域的知识与临床实践，体现有效姑息治疗所标志的多学科方法。

History

• The journal was founded in 1987 under the Edward Arnold imprint in London, with Derek Doyle of St Columba's Hospice, Edinburgh, as founding editor, serving from 1987 to 1992.本刊 1987 年由伦敦的（Edward Arnold）出版社创办，爱丁堡圣科伦巴临终关怀院的 Derek Doyle 任创刊编辑，任期 1987 年至 1992 年。^[1]
• Doyle was a pioneer of modern palliative medicine in the United Kingdom, founding Medical Director of St Columba's Hospice in 1977, the first hospice in Scotland, and a co-founder and first Vice-Chairman of the European Association for Palliative Care, and he died in January 2022 at the age of 90.Doyle 是英国现代姑息医学的先驱，1977 年创办苏格兰第一家临终关怀院圣科伦巴临终关怀院并任首任医学主任，亦是欧洲姑息治疗协会的共同创办者与首任副主席，2022 年 1 月逝世，享年 90 岁。
