Organic Letters
Organic Letters is a weekly peer-reviewed scientific journal covering fundamental research in all branches of organic chemistry, published by the American Chemical Society, and its 2025 Journal Impact Factor is 4.7, ranking 5th of 58 journals in the Journal Citation Reports Chemistry, Organic category《有机化学通讯》(Organic Letters)是美国化学学会(ACS)出版的有机化学周刊,创刊于1999年,刊发有机化学各分支基础研究的原创简报,2025年期刊影响因子为4.7,在期刊引用报告(JCR)有机化学类58种期刊中排名第5
Scope
- The journal invites original reports of fundamental research in all branches of the theory and practice of organic, physical organic, organometallic, medicinal, and bioorganic chemistry该刊征集有机化学、物理有机化学、金属有机化学、药物化学与生物有机化学等各分支理论与应用基础研究的原创简报
- It provides rapid disclosure of the key elements of significant studies that are of interest to a large portion of the organic community
- In selecting manuscripts, the editors place emphasis on the originality, quality, and wide interest of the work, and authors are asked to provide enough background to place each new disclosure in context遴选稿件时编辑注重工作的原创性、质量与广泛关注度,并要求作者提供足够背景以说明新披露内容的学术语境
- The rapid publication format is justified by the significance of the finding, with full details reserved for a full article that should appear in due course, back-to-back letters may be considered, and a letter must not exceed 2,200 words including roughly five graphical elements快报格式以发现的重要性为依据,完整细节应留待日后全文发表,连续编排的快报组合亦在考虑之列,单篇快报含图表在内不超过2,200词
- The journal publishes letters together with curated special issues and virtual issues on emerging themes, and it was conceived as a letters companion to the full-paper Journal of Organic Chemistry该刊除快报外还出版围绕前沿主题策划的专号与虚拟专号,创刊时即定位为全文期刊(Journal of Organic Chemistry)的快报姊妹刊
- Over 25 years the spectrum of topics has broadened considerably, spanning synthetic methodology, catalysis, natural products, functional materials, and physical and computational organic chemistry25年来该刊主题覆盖面显著拓宽,涵盖合成方法学、催化、天然产物、功能材料以及物理有机与计算有机化学等方向
History
- The first issue of Organic Letters was published on 15 July 1999, the first manuscript had been received on 1 March 1999, and the first letters appeared online on 17 May 1999《有机化学通讯》第1期于1999年7月15日出版,首篇稿件于1999年3月1日收到,首批快报于1999年5月17日在线发布
- It was the first American Chemical Society journal to accept web submissions, and its founding editor-in-chief was Amos B. Smith III of the University of Pennsylvania, supported by six associate editors and a 48-member editorial advisory board该刊是美国化学学会第一种接受网络投稿的期刊,创刊主编为宾夕法尼亚大学的 Amos B. Smith III,另有6位副编辑与48人的顾问编委会[1]
- The first letter published was a total synthesis study by Shannon Chi and Clayton H. Heathcock of the University of California, Berkeley, and the first year comprised 13 issues with 560 letters totaling 2,184 pages该刊发表的首篇快报为加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校 Shannon Chi 与 Clayton H. Heathcock 的全合成研究,创刊首年共出13期、560篇快报,合计2,184页
- Editors-in-chief have been Amos B. Smith III from 1999 to 2018, Erick M. Carreira from 2019, Pauline Chiu on an interim basis, and Marisa C. Kozlowski since
- The journal appeared biweekly at launch and moved to weekly publication in 2022 in response to a larger number of submissions and published letters, with an executive editor team added in
- The journal moved to a hybrid open access model in 2014, and some 37,500 letters had been published by its 25th anniversary, with recent impact factors of 4.7 in 2025, 5.0 in 2024, and 6.072 in
Editors
- The editor-in-chief is Marisa C. Kozlowski of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania, who has held the post since
- An executive editor team consisting of Margaret Brimble of the University of Auckland in New Zealand and Tobias Ritter of the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Germany was introduced in 20232023年增设执行编辑团队,由新西兰奥克兰大学的 Margaret Brimble 与德国马克斯·普朗克煤炭研究所的 Tobias Ritter 组成
