Ningbo University is a public comprehensive research university in the Jiangbei district of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the Zhejiang Provincial Government and the Ningbo Municipal Government and included in China's Double First-Class university programme.宁波大学是一所位于中国浙江省宁波市江北区的公立综合性研究型大学，由教育部、浙江省人民政府和宁波市人民政府共建，并入选国家「双一流」建设高校名单。

Founded in 1986 with a donation from the shipping magnate Sir Y. K. Pao, it had its name inscribed by Deng Xiaoping and was initially assisted by Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, the University of Science and Technology of China and the former Hangzhou University.该校由世界船王包玉刚于1986年捐资创立，校名由邓小平题写，建校之初由北京大学、复旦大学、浙江大学、中国科学技术大学和原杭州大学对口援建，起点甚高。

History

• In October 1984 the Hong Kong industrialist Y. K. Pao visited his home city of Ningbo, learned that it still had no comprehensive university, and offered to donate money to establish one.1984年10月，香港实业家包玉刚返乡访问宁波，得知当地尚无综合性大学后，表示愿意捐资兴办一所大学。
