Nature Reviews Genetics (commonly abbreviated as Nat. Rev. Genet.) is a review journal in genetics published by Springer Nature. It was launched in 2000 and has carried its present title from the outset, is issued monthly, carries Reviews, Progress, Comment, Analysis and Perspective articles among its content types, and had an impact factor of 51.4 in 2025.Nature Reviews Genetics（常用缩写 Nat. History

April 2009: the publisher rebranded eight clinical journals under the Nature Reviews name, taking the series from seven titles to fifteen. The 2020s: the impact factor peaked at 59.581 in 2021 before easing back as the field fluctuated overall, standing at 52 in 2024 and 51.4 in 2025. Editors

Chief Editor: the journal is led by Linda Koch, who took her doctorate in genetics at the University of Cologne in the laboratory of Jens Brüning and then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Genetics on a knockout mouse model of the obesity gene Fto.
