Nature Reviews Disease Primers (commonly abbreviated as Nat. Rev. Dis. Primers) is an online-only medical review journal published by Springer Nature. It was launched in April 2015 and is known for its format in which each Primer covers a single disease or disorder and is accompanied by an illustrated PrimeView, with a 2025 impact factor of 79.8.Nature Reviews Disease Primers（常用缩写 Nat. Scope

Format: each Primer addresses a single disease, disorder or condition in a modular structure, covering epidemiology, mechanisms, diagnosis, management, effects on quality of life and an Outlook section in which the authors discuss open research questions in the field.体裁定位：每篇导论专述一种疾病、功能紊乱或临床状态，采用模块化结构，从流行病学讲到发病机制、诊断、治疗与患者生活质量，并设展望部分由作者讨论该领域尚待解答的开放问题；

History

April 2015: the journal was launched by Nature Publishing Group as a new format in its online-only publishing list, with Mina Razzak PhD as Chief Editor from the outset. 2020: the journal marked five years with some 225 Primers published, and Clemens Thoma DPhil became Chief Editor the same year. 2025: an editorial marking ten years reported more than 400 Primers and accompanying PrimeViews, spanning the spectrum from highly prevalent infectious diseases to rare congenital conditions and from acute traumatic injuries to chronic illnesses. Editors

Chief Editor: the journal is led by Clemens Thoma DPhil, who studied pharmacy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford on improving oncolytic adenovirus virotherapy in ovarian cancer.
