Nature Geoscience

Nature Geoscience (commonly abbreviated as ''Nat. Geosci.') is an Earth science research journal published by Springer Nature. It appeared in January 2008 and appears monthly, carrying original research across the full span of the geosciences, with a 2025 impact factor of 20.6.Nature Geoscience（常用缩写 Nat. Scope

Disciplinary focus: the journal publishes theoretical research, numerical modelling and field work across the Earth sciences, and it also welcomes significant work from other disciplines where it bears directly on the geosciences.学科定位：刊发地球科学全部理论研究与数值模拟以及野外作业成果，并对与地球科学直接相关的其他学科的重要工作同样保持开放；

Mix of content types: primary research is carried mainly by Articles, limited to 3,000 words of main text with a 200-word abstract and four to six display items. More compact findings appear as Brief Communications of 1,000 to 1,500 words with no headings and at most two display items. Non-primary formats include Analysis, Review, Perspective, Comment, Matters Arising, News & Views, Book Review and All Minerals Considered, with News & Views, Book Review and All Minerals Considered not normally peer reviewed.体裁配比：一级研究以研究论文为主体，正文上限 3000 词、摘要 200 词、图版四至六个；体量更短的成果归入简讯，正文1000 至 1500 词、不设小标题、图版不超过两个；另设评述、观点、评论、编者按、勘误商榷、新闻与观点、书评与矿物随笔等非一级研究体裁，其中新闻与观点、书评与矿物随笔一般不经外审；
Open access: the journal is hybrid. Since January 2021 authors of primary research manuscripts may choose between the traditional subscription route and immediate gold open access on payment of an article processing charge. History

2007: Nature Publishing Group began preparing the new title, with Heike Langenberg as launch Chief Editor, responsible for building the editorial team and preparing the first issues.2007年：自然出版集团着手筹办新刊，创刊主编由 Heike Langenberg 担任，她负责组建编辑部并筹备创刊。
January 2008: the first issue appeared, positioning the journal as a multidisciplinary title drawing together top-quality research across the whole spectrum of the Earth sciences. The monthly publication rhythm was fixed from the outset.2008年1月：创刊号出版，刊物定位为汇集地球科学全谱系顶级研究的综合性期刊，出版频率自创刊起即维持每月一期的月刊节奏。
February 2020: launch Chief Editor Heike Langenberg stepped down and Tamara Goldin took over the journal. She had joined in 2012 after postdoctoral research at the University of Vienna.2020年2月：创刊主编 Heike Langenberg 卸任，Tamara Goldin 接掌编辑部；她此前在维也纳大学从事博士后研究，2012 年加入本刊，2020 年出任主编。

Editors

Chief Editor: the journal is currently led by Rebecca Neely, who joined in 2017 and was first based in the Shanghai office before moving to London.
