National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore, known as NUS, is a public research university in Singapore and the oldest institution of higher learning in the country.新加坡国立大学（National University of Singapore），简称国大，是一所位于新加坡的公立研究型大学，也是该国历史最悠久的高等学府。

Its origins lie in a medical school founded in 1905, and it took its present form in 1980 through the merger of the University of Singapore and Nanyang University, ranking tenth in the 2027 QS World University Rankings.学校源出于 1905 年创办的一所医学校，1980 年由新加坡大学与南洋大学合并而成今日形态，在 2027 年 QS 世界大学排名中位列全球第十。

History

• The institution was founded on 3 July 1905 as the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, which trained doctors for the Malay peninsula.学校于 1905 年 7 月 3 日创办，初名海峡殖民地与马来联邦政府医学校，为马来半岛培养医生。

• It was renamed the King Edward VII College of Medicine in 1921, and in 1928 Raffles College was established for the arts and sciences.1921 年，学校更名为英皇爱德华七世医学院；1928 年又设立莱佛士学院，教授文科与理科。

Academics

• NUS is a comprehensive university with sixteen faculties and schools and three research institutes, spanning the humanities, sciences, engineering, business, law, architecture, computing, dentistry and medicine.国大是一所综合型大学，设有十六个学院与三所研究院，涵盖人文、理学、工程、商学、法学、建筑、计算机、牙医与医学等领域。

Campus
