Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University, known as NTU, is a public research university in Singapore with a strong emphasis on engineering, business and the sciences.南洋理工大学（Nanyang Technological University），简称南大，是一所位于新加坡的公立研究型大学，以工程、商学与理学见长。

It traces its name to a Chinese-medium university founded on the same site in 1955, became an institute of technology in 1981 and a university in 1991, and ranks twelfth in the 2027 QS World University Rankings.学校的名称源自 1955 年建于同一校址的一所华文大学，1981 年改制为理工学院，1991 年升格为大学，在 2027 年 QS 世界大学排名中位列全球第十二。

History

• The present institution stands on the former campus of Nanyang University, a Chinese-language university founded in 1955 by Chinese community leaders in Singapore.如今的学校坐落在南洋大学的原校址上，那所华文大学由新加坡华人社团领袖于 1955 年创办。

• In 1980 Nanyang University merged with the University of Singapore to form the National University of Singapore, leaving its former site free for a new institution.1980 年，南洋大学与新加坡大学合并组成新加坡国立大学，其原校址得以用于设立新的院校。
