Scope

History

• The American Society for Microbiology announced the journal in 2015 and published its first articles in 2016, as part of a deliberate move into open-access publishing.美国微生物学会 2015 年宣布创办本刊，2016 年刊出首批论文，是其转向开放获取出版的一环。
• Jack A. Gilbert, then working at the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory, was the founding editor-in-chief.创始主编为当时任职于芝加哥大学与阿贡国家实验室的（Jack A. Gilbert）。
• The journal appeared in the same period as mSphere, giving the society open-access outlets for community and systems microbiology.本刊与（mSphere）同为学会在该时期推出的开放获取新刊，面向群落与系统微生物学。
