Meyerhofferite

Meyerhofferite is a hydrated calcium borate with the formula CaB₃O₃(OH)₅·H₂O and a molar mass of 223.56 g/mol.

It is best known as an alteration product of inyoite in sedimentary and lacustrine borate deposits, where it is a minor constituent of the ore rather than an ore mineral in its own right.

The species is triclinic, colourless to white, soft at Mohs 2, and builds fibrous aggregates that often pseudomorph the inyoite they replaced.
