Scope

• The journal is aimed at revealing the molecular, biochemical and biological mechanisms that underlie the processes of ageing and development in various species as well as age-associated diseases.本刊旨在揭示不同物种衰老与发育过程及年龄相关疾病背后的分子、生化与生物学机制。
• Emphasis is placed on investigations that delineate the contribution of macromolecular damage and cytotoxicity, genetic programs, epigenetics and genetic instability, mitochondrial function, alterations of metabolism and innovative anti-aging approaches.重点刊发阐明大分子损伤与细胞毒性、遗传程序、表观遗传学与遗传不稳定性、线粒体功能、代谢改变及创新抗衰老策略作用的研究。
• For all of these studies it is necessary to address the underlying mechanisms, so purely descriptive or correlative work, case studies and omics data not linked to functional analyses are not considered.上述研究均须阐明潜在机制，纯描述性或相关性研究、个案研究以及未关联功能分析的组学数据不在考虑之列。

History

• The journal was founded in 1972 and published for decades by Elsevier Scientific Publishers Ireland, the predecessor of today's Elsevier Ireland Ltd, with Bernard L. Strehler of Los Angeles as its founding editor-in-chief and A.
