Materials Research Bulletin

Materials Research Bulletin (commonly abbreviated as Mater. Res. Bull.) is a broadly scoped materials science journal published by Elsevier, issued monthly. Founded in 1966, it is among the widest-scoped titles in its field, publishing fundamental and applied work on inorganic non-metallic materials, functional materials and biomedical materials.《材料研究通报》（Materials Research Bulletin，常用缩写为 Mater. Scope

The journal's editorial stance takes materials themselves as the object of study, requiring that the material system or processing method discussed be generalisable rather than confined to empirical observation under one set of conditions. It describes its core as exploring the relations among structure, property and processing of inorganic and organic materials, and adopts an interdisciplinary method connecting materials science with engineering, physics, chemistry and biology. The journal is a hybrid title. The subscription route charges authors nothing, while open access carries an article processing charge of US$3,910. The publisher states an official acceptance rate of 16 per cent, with medians of 4 days to first decision, 31 days to a decision after review and 86 days to acceptance. The first decision includes editorial screening. History

• Founding (1966): the journal was founded in September 1966, with Rustum Roy and Heinz K. Henisch of Pennsylvania State University as founding editors, and was published at the outset by Pergamon Press. Editors

The journal operates under a single editor-in-chief appointed by Elsevier, with a number of editors emeriti in support, and manuscripts submitted through the Editorial Manager system.
