Materials Characterization

Materials Characterization is an international journal published by Elsevier, launched in 1990 as the continuation of Metallography, a journal founded in 1968, covering the microstructural characterization of materials, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 6.2《材料表征》（Materials Characterization）是（Elsevier）出版的国际期刊，1990 年由 1968 年创刊的《金相学》（Metallography）更名而来，聚焦材料微观组织表征，2025 年影响因子为 6.2。

Scope

• The journal features original articles and state-of-the-art reviews on theoretical and practical aspects of the structure and behaviour of materials期刊发表材料结构与行为之理论与实践方面的原创论文与前沿综述。
• It focuses on all characterization techniques, including all forms of microscopy such as light, electron and acoustic microscopy, and analysis in particular microanalysis and surface analytical techniques, and submissions must include microstructural imaging聚焦全部表征技术，包括光学、电子、声学等各类显微术以及显微分析与表面分析技术，投稿必须包含微观组织成像。

History

• The journal originated as Metallography, which published its first volume in September 1968该刊源自《金相学》（Metallography），后者于 1968 年 9 月出版第一卷。
• With volume 24 in 1990 the title was changed to Materials Characterization, as announced in an editorial headed A change of title1990 年第 24 卷起刊名改为《材料表征》，更名事宜以专文编者按宣布。^[1]
• It is published under print ISSN 1044-5803 and electronic ISSN 1873-4189, issued monthly in twelve volumes per year期刊印刷 ISSN 为 1044-5803，电子 ISSN 为 1873-4189，按月出版，每年 12 卷。
