Machine Intelligence Research is a bimonthly hybrid journal published by Springer and sponsored by the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, begun in 2004 as the International Journal of Automation and Computing and formally released under its present title in 2022, devoted to original theoretical and experimental research on machine intelligence, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 10.0《机器智能研究》（Machine Intelligence Research）是由（Springer）出版、中国科学院自动化研究所主办的双月刊混合型期刊，2004 年以（International Journal of Automation and Computing）之名创刊，2022 年以现名正式出版，专注机器智能领域的原创理论与实验研究，2025 年影响因子为 10.0。

Scope

• The journal publishes high-quality papers on original theoretical and experimental research, targets special issues on emerging topics, and strives to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical applications该刊发表原创理论与实验研究的高质量论文，围绕新兴主题组织专题刊，并致力于弥合理论研究与实际应用之间的差距。
• Its listed topics are artificial intelligence fundamentals, brain-inspired intelligence, pattern recognition and machine learning, machine vision, speech and language processing, embodied intelligence and robotics, knowledge management and data mining, and applications of machine intelligence其列明的主题包括人工智能基础、类脑智能、模式识别与机器学习、机器视觉、语音与语言处理、具身智能与机器人、知识管理与数据挖掘，以及机器智能应用。

History

• The serial began in October 2004 as the International Journal of Automation and Computing with a single issue in its first volume, and the same digital object identifier series has numbered every article of both titles since then该刊系列于 2004 年 10 月以（International Journal of Automation and Computing）之名启动，第 1 卷仅一期，此后两个刊名的全部文章沿用同一数字对象唯一标识系列。
• Its frequency grew step by step, with two issues in volume 2 in 2005, four issues a year through volume 8 in 2011 and six bimonthly issues a year from volume 9 in 2012, a pattern still followed in volume 23 in 2026其刊期逐步扩展，2005 年第 2 卷为 2 期，至 2011 年第 8 卷为每年 4 期，自 2012 年第 9 卷起固定为每年 6 期的双月刊，2026 年第 23 卷仍循此例。
• Under the sponsorship of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences the title was renamed and formally released as Machine Intelligence Research in 2022 from volume 19, whose first issue opened with a message from the new editor-in-chief在中国科学院自动化研究所主办下，该刊自 2022 年第 19 卷起以现名正式出版，第 19 卷首期以新任主编寄语开篇。^[1]
• The first editorial board was assembled in February 2022 with twenty-two domestic members, and recruitment of a first cohort of young editorial board members was announced by the sponsoring institute in November 2025首届编委会于 2022 年 2 月组建，含 22 位国内编委，主办单位于 2025 年 11 月发布首届青年编委招募启事。
• Its first Journal Impact Factor was 6.4 for 2023, the value rose to 8.7 for 2024 and to 10.0 for 2025, when the recorded downloads reached 270.6 thousand and the five-year impact factor stood at 9.8该刊首个影响因子为 2023 年的 6.4，2024 年升至 8.7，2025 年达 10.0，同年下载量记录为 27.06 万次，五年影响因子为 9.8。
• It is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and registered in China under code CN 10-1799/TP, and the title was twice selected into the national excellence plan for science and technology journals该刊由中国科学院主管，国内刊号为 CN 10-1799/TP，并两度入选中国科技期刊卓越行动计划。

Editors

• Tieniu Tan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at the Institute of Automation of the academy in Beijing, is the editor-in-chief中国科学院院士、中国科学院自动化研究所研究员（Tieniu Tan）任主编。
• He took his bachelor degree at Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1984 and his master and doctorate at Imperial College London in 1986 and 1989, worked at the University of Reading until 1998, and is a fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the World Academy of Sciences,（IEEE）and the International Association for Pattern Recognition他 1984 年获西安交通大学学士学位，1986 年与 1989 年分获伦敦大学帝国理工学院硕士与博士学位，1998 年前任职于雷丁大学（University of Reading），为中国科学院院士以及（TWAS）、（IEEE）与国际模式识别学会会士。
• Three deputy editors assist him, namely Yike Guo of Imperial College London, Brian C. Lovell of the University of Queensland and Liang Wang of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences三位副主编协助其工作，分别为伦敦大学帝国理工学院（Imperial College London）的（Yike Guo）、昆士兰大学（University of Queensland）的（Brian C.
