Lingnan University

Lingnan University is a public liberal arts university in Tuen Mun in the New Territories of Hong Kong, one of the eight UGC-funded universities in the territory and known for small-class teaching and whole-person education.岭南大学是香港新界屯门的一所公立博雅大学，是香港八所大学教育资助委员会资助的大学之一，以小班教学与全人教育著称。

It traces its origins to the Christian College in China founded in Guangzhou in 1888 by the American Presbyterian Church, and its mission of Education for Service combines Chinese and Western liberal arts traditions.其源流可追溯至 1888 年美国美北长老会在广州创办的格致书院；其「作育英才，服务社会」的使命融合中西博雅教育传统。

History

• Lingnan University traces its origins to 1888, when the Christian College in China was founded in Guangzhou by the American Presbyterian Church and admitted its first cohort of 30 students on 28 March 1888, becoming one of the earliest Christian colleges in southern China.岭南大学的源流可追溯到 1888 年，美国美北长老会在广州创办格致书院，并于 1888 年 3 月 28 日迎来首批 30 名学生，成为中国南方最早的基督教书院之一。
