Kyungpook National University

Kyungpook National University (KNU), known in Korean as Kyungdae, is a national research university in Daegu, South Korea, and is one of the ten flagship Korean national universities associated with North Gyeongsang Province.庆北大学（简称庆大，KNU）是韩国大邱广域市的国立研究型综合大学，也是代表庆尚北道的十所国立旗舰大学之一。

The university traces its origin to a medical school founded in 1923 and was formally established in September 1946, when the Daegu teachers, medical and agricultural colleges were upgraded into national colleges as part of the post-liberation reform of Korean higher education.其办学渊源可追溯至 1923 年创立的医学校；1946 年 9 月，大邱师范、医科、农科三所学院在韩国光复后的高等教育改革中升格为国立大学，学校正式成立。

History

• The oldest root of the university is the medical school founded in Daegu in 1923, which its School of Medicine still counts as its own starting point.学校最早的源头是 1923 年在大邱创立的医学校，其医学院至今仍以这一年为起点。

• In September 1946 the Daegu Normal College, Daegu Medical College and Daegu Agricultural College were upgraded into national colleges, the immediate predecessors of the university.1946 年 9 月，大邱师范、大邱医科与大邱农科三所学院升格为国立专门大学，成为学校的直接前身。

Student life

• The university's educational guidelines were built on four older principles, cooperation, service, wise ruling and pride, and a new motto was created when it became a comprehensive university in the 1960s, since when the guidelines have been repeated in the university's charters and student handbooks.学校的办学训条建立在“协作、服务、明智治理、自豪”四项旧准则之上，并在 1960 年代成为综合性大学时确立了新的校训，此后长期见于学校章程与学生手册。

• Park Chung-hee, who served as the fifth to ninth president of South Korea between 1963 and 1979, studied at the Daegu Normal School that was later merged into the university.1963 至 1979 年间任大韩民国第 5 至第 9 届总统的朴正熙，曾就读于后来并入庆北大学的大邱师范学校。
