Jahangirnagar University, usually shortened to JU, is a public research university in Savar, a sub-district on the north-western edge of Dhaka, Bangladesh, about 32 kilometres from the city centre, and the only university in the country that accommodates all of its students on campus.贾汉吉尔诺戈尔大学（Jahangirnagar University，简称 JU）是孟加拉国达卡西北边缘萨瓦尔专区的公立研究型大学，距市中心约 32 公里，也是该国唯一为全体学生提供校内住宿的大学。

It was created by the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance of 1970 under the Government of Pakistan, began teaching in January 1971, and was renamed and reconstituted by the Jahangirnagar University Act of 1973 after Bangladeshi independence.该校依据巴基斯坦政府 1970 年颁布的《贾汉吉尔诺戈尔穆斯林大学条例》设立，1971 年 1 月开始授课，孟加拉国独立后依 1973 年《贾汉吉尔诺戈尔大学法》更名并重组。

History

• Jahangirnagar was the Mughal name of Dhaka, conferred in 1610 by Islam Khan, the imperial governor of Bengal, in honour of the reigning emperor Jahangir, and the historic name was revived when the university was founded three and a half centuries later.贾汉吉尔诺戈尔是达卡在莫卧儿时期的旧称。1610 年，孟加拉总督伊斯兰汗为尊奉当时在位的皇帝贾汉吉尔而将达卡改称此名；三个半世纪后新建的大学沿用了这一历史名称。
