International Materials Reviews (Int. Mater. Rev.) is a review journal published by SAGE on behalf of ASM International and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Founded in 1956 and under its present name since 1987, it publishes mainly commissioned reviews across metals and alloys, ceramics and composites, appears eight times a year, and had a 2025 impact factor of 17.0.《国际材料评论》（International Materials Reviews''''，缩写 Int. Scope

The journal's editorial stance is that a review must be the authoritative synthesis of its materials topic: papers are largely commissioned and are expected to organise knowledge of a materials system systematically and propose a testable framework. Coverage runs across the main branches of materials science and concentrates on:本刊的取稿立场是「综述必须是该材料方向的权威综合」：一篇稿件以邀约为主，要求对某一材料体系的知识作出系统整理并提出可检验的认识框架。收文覆盖材料科学的主要分支，重点包括：

The journal publishes mainly commissioned reviews, eight issues a year. Neither the publisher nor the societies publish review speed or acceptance rate. The impact factor differs by basis between the societies: the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining gives a 2025 Journal Citation Reports impact factor of 17.0, ranking 31 of 472 in multidisciplinary materials science, with a CiteScore of 47.3, while ASM International lists 15.5, with 20.6 over five years and a CiteScore of 41.9. History

• Founding and title history: the journal was founded in 1956 as Metallurgical Reviews, volumes 1 to 16 from 1956 to 1971. It became International Metallurgical Reviews, volumes 17 to 20, from 1972 to 1975, then International Metals Reviews, volumes 21 to 31, from 1976 to 1986, and has used the present name since 1987, continuing from volume 32.创刊与刊名沿革： 本刊创刊于 1956 年，刊名为《冶金评论》（第 1 至 16 卷，1956 至 1971 年）；1972 年改称《国际冶金评论》（第 17 至 20 卷，1972 至 1975 年）；1976 年改称《国际金属评论》（第 21 至 31 卷，1976 至 1986 年）；1987 年起改用现名，自第 32 卷起延续至今。^[2]

• Founding year and year of present name: the journal was founded in 1956 and the present name took effect in 1987, the two differing. On the basis that the start of the title line governs, the founding year should be recorded as 1956.创刊年与现名启用年： 本刊的创刊年为 1956 年，现名启用年为 1987 年，两者不同；按「以刊名沿革起点为准」的口径，创刊年应记为 1956 年。

• Publisher: the journal was published by Taylor & Francis from 2018 to 2023 and returned to SAGE in 2024. Both societies' websites now name SAGE as publisher, though documentation of the change rests mainly on secondary sources.出版方沿革： 2018 至 2023 年间本刊曾由泰勒与弗朗西斯出版，2024 年起转回世哲出版；两家学会的官网现均标注世哲为出版方，这一变更的记载目前主要见于二级来源。

• Metrics and indexing: the journal is indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded and Scopus but not in MEDLINE. The impact factor and CiteScore are as above, with an immediacy index of 3.2.指标与收录： 本刊被科学引文索引扩展版与 Scopus 收录，未被 MEDLINE 收录；影响因子与引用分数见上，即时期望指数 3.2。^[3]

Editors

The journal uses a dual editorial board structure with no single editor-in-chief: ASM International and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining each appoint a board chair, based in Australia and the United Kingdom respectively.
