International Journal of Obesity (standard abbreviation Int. J. Obes. (Lond.)) is a multidisciplinary journal of obesity research published by Springer Nature, with print ISSN 0307-0565 and electronic ISSN 1476-5497. Scope

According to the aims and scope published by the publisher, the journal is a multidisciplinary forum for basic, clinical and applied studies of the biochemical, physiological, genetic, molecular, metabolic, nutritional, psychological and epidemiological aspects of obesity and related disorders, and it welcomes work approaching these problems from biological, psychological, clinical, sociological and environmental directions.据出版方公布的收录说明，该刊是肥胖及其相关疾病在基础、临床与应用层面的多学科论坛，覆盖生物化学、生理、遗传、分子、代谢、营养、心理与流行病学等角度，欢迎从生物学、心理学、临床、社会学与环境视角切入的研究

• 1977: the journal was founded in the United Kingdom as International Journal of Obesity, initially a quarterly published by Newman in London in collaboration with the Association for the Study of Obesity and the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, with George Bray and Alan Howard as founding co-editors.1977年：期刊在英国创刊，初名 International Journal of Obesity，创刊时为季刊，由伦敦的 Newman 出版社出版，与英国肥胖研究协会及北美肥胖研究协会合作发行，创刊共同主编为 George Bray 与 Alan Howard

• Change of editors: Professor Richard L. Atkinson served as an editor-in-chief from 2000 and retired on 31 December 2020 after 21 years. Professor Ian Macdonald had been a joint editor-in-chief since 1999 and stepped down in June 2021 after 22 years in the post, and Professor David Stensel, an associate editor from 2013, took over as joint Editor-in-Chief in July 2021.主编更替：Richard L. Editors

The journal has two Editors-in-Chief supported by associate editors, a reviews editor, statistical associate editors and a large editorial board, with the Editors-in-Chief and associate editors jointly deciding which manuscripts go out for external review.
