IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine
IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine is the quarterly flagship magazine of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, published by IEEE and launched in 2006, presenting peer-reviewed features, tutorials and columns across neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation and learning systems, with a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 7.7 and a rank of 37th among 210 artificial intelligence journals《IEEE
Scope
- Neural networks and learning systems form one pillar, from architectural design to training methods and their theoretical analysis
- Fuzzy systems and fuzzy reasoning are covered, including fuzzy control, fuzzy decision making and interpretable models
- Evolutionary computation is a third pillar, spanning genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolutionary multiobjective optimisation and memetic computing
- Emerging hybrid paradigms such as neuro-symbolic learning, physics-informed learning and swarm intelligence are increasingly prominent
- Applications-oriented development, successful industrial implementations and design tools are explicitly sought, not only theoretical results
- Technology reviews, computational intelligence education and applied research are part of the editorial remit, alongside surveys that map the state of the art
History
- The magazine was launched in 2006, succeeding the society newsletter IEEE Connections as the membership's peer-reviewed publication该杂志 2006 年创刊,接替学会通讯(IEEE Connections)成为面向会员的同行评审出版物。
- Its founding editor-in-chief was Gary G. Yen, who was followed by Kay Chen Tan, Hisao Ishibuchi and Chuan-Kang Ting创刊主编为(Gary G. Yen),其后依次由(Kay Chen Tan)、(Hisao Ishibuchi)与(Chuan-Kang Ting)接任。
- The magazine moved to the ScholarOne submission system in 2020 to tighten the review workflow for authors, editors and reviewers该刊于 2020 年迁至(ScholarOne)投稿系统,以改善作者、编辑与审稿人的流程衔接。
- It publishes four issues a year and has kept a strong tutorial and perspective component alongside research features
- Its impact factor was 11.356 in 2021, 9.809 in 2022, 11.2 in 2024 and 7.7 in
