Henan University of Technology

The Henan University of Technology (HAUT) is a provincial public university in Zhengzhou, Henan, China, co-built by the Henan provincial government and the national grain administration.河南工业大学是一所位于中国河南省郑州市的省属公立大学，由河南省人民政府与国家粮食主管部门共建。

It descends from the Central Grain Cadre School founded in Beijing in 1956 and the Zhengzhou Machine Manufacturing School founded in the same year, which merged into a single university in 2004.学校源自1956年在北京创办的中央粮食干部学校和同年成立的郑州机器制造学校，两脉于2004年合并组建为河南工业大学。

The university has 23 colleges, 73 undergraduate majors, more than 40,000 students and 2,111 faculty members across three campuses covering 2,365 mu, and is nicknamed the Huangpu Military Academy of China's grain industry.学校设有23个学院、73个本科专业，有学生4万余人、教职工2,111人，三个校区共占地2,365亩，被誉为中国粮食行业的「黄埔军校」。

History

• In June 1956 the Ministry of Grain founded the Central Grain Cadre School in Beijing to train managers and technicians for the state grain system.1956年6月，粮食部在北京创办中央粮食干部学校，为国家粮食系统培养管理与技术人员。
• On 21 April 1959 the Beijing Grain College was created on the basis of the cadre school and began formal diploma education.1959年4月21日，以中央粮食干部学校为基础组建北京粮食专科学校，开始进行学历教育。
• In August 1960 the college moved to Zhengzhou and was renamed the Zhengzhou Grain College, becoming the first grain college in China and the only one in Asia at the time, which earned it the name Asian Grain College.1960年8月，学校迁至郑州并更名为郑州粮食学院，成为中国第一所、当时亚洲唯一的粮食院校，因而有「亚洲粮院」之称。
• In November 1971 the college was abolished and became the Grain and Oil Industry Department of the Henan Agricultural College.1971年11月，学校建制撤销，并入河南农学院，成为粮油工业系。
• On 1 July 1973 the department was merged into the Zhengzhou Institute of Technology and enrolled four cohorts of worker-peasant-soldier students.1973年7月1日，粮油工业系并入郑州工学院，先后招收了四届工农兵学员。
• On 1 April 1978 the State Council approved the restoration of the Zhengzhou Grain College, and the school was rebuilt on its former site.1978年4月1日，国务院批准恢复郑州粮食学院建制，学校在原址复校。

• That school, later the Zhengzhou Industrial Higher Vocational School, was one of 27 national demonstration higher engineering colleges and trained technicians for abrasives, superhard materials and the machine-building industry.该校后来定名郑州工业高等专科学校，是27所全国示范性高等工程专科重点建设学校之一，为磨料磨具、超硬材料与机械行业培养技术骨干。
• It was successively supervised by the First Ministry of Machine Building, the Ministry of Machine Building and Electronics and the Ministry of Machine Building.该校曾先后隶属第一机械工业部、机械电子工业部和机械工业部。

Campus

• The university operates three campuses, on Lianhua Street in the high-tech zone, on Songshan Road and on Zhongyuan Road, covering 2,365 mu in total.学校在郑州设三个校区，分别位于高新区莲花街、嵩山路和中原路，总占地2,365亩。
• The Lianhua Street campus is the main teaching base, with more than 40 teaching buildings numbered from Building 1 to Building 35.莲花街校区是主要教学基地，建有40余栋教学楼，按1号楼至35号楼编号。
• Student housing is divided into six zones from A to F, each with four dormitory buildings of six floors, plus a 20-storey building in zone F.学生宿舍分为A至F六个区，每区四栋六层宿舍楼，F区另有一栋20层宿舍楼。
