Henan Normal University

Henan Normal University is a provincial public normal university in Xinxiang, northern Henan, China, with roots in the science division of Zhongzhou University founded in 1923 Xinxiang lies on the Muye plain between the Taihang Mountains and the Yellow River, about 80 kilometres north of Zhengzhou.河南师范大学是位于中国豫北新乡的一所省属公立师范大学，其源头可追溯至1923年创办的中州大学理科。新乡位于太行山与黄河之间的牧野平原，距郑州约80公里。

It became a teachers college in 1951, took its present name in 1985 after 30 years as Xinxiang Teachers College and is now co-built by the Henan Provincial Government and the Ministry of Education.学校1951年建立师范学院，在沿用新乡师范学院校名30年后于1985年改用现名，现由河南省人民政府与教育部共建。

It is a Henan characteristic backbone university and a provincial Double First-Class creation university, with 27 schools and more than 50,000 full-time students.学校是河南省特色骨干大学和河南省「双一流」创建高校，设有27个学院，全日制在校生5万余人。

History

• The university traces one line of descent to the science division of Zhongzhou University, founded in 1923, which became part of National Henan University and supplied the science faculty that later moved to Xinxiang.学校的一个源头是1923年创办的中州大学理科，该科后并入国立河南大学，其理科师资后来迁往新乡。

• In the summer of 1955 the two colleges were reorganised along arts-science lines, with science moved from Kaifeng to Xinxiang and Chinese, history and geography moved to Kaifeng, leaving Xinxiang as a pure science teachers college.
