The Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) is a public university in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province in eastern China, with a second teaching site in Xuancheng and an academic profile built around engineering.合肥工业大学（HFUT）位于中国东部安徽省省会合肥，是一所以工科为主的公办大学，并在宣城设有校区。

It is directly administered by the Ministry of Education and co-funded by the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, and it belongs to Project 211 and the Double First-Class Construction.学校由教育部直属，由安徽省人民政府、工业和信息化部与国家国防科技工业局共建，是「211工程」与「双一流」建设高校。

History

• The university traces its origin to the Anhui Provincial Bengbu Industrial Vocational School, founded in the autumn of 1945 in Bengbu, a city on the Huai River in northern Anhui.学校的源头是 1945 年秋在淮河之滨的蚌埠创办的安徽省立蚌埠工业职业学校。
• In 1946 that school was enlarged into the Anhui Provincial Bengbu Advanced Industrial Vocational School, and in 1947 the Anhui Provincial Industrial College was created on its foundation.1946 年，该校扩建为安徽省立蚌埠高级工业职业学校；1947 年又在其基础上创建了安徽省立工业专科学校。
• After 1949 the college was reorganised in 1950 as the Huainan Industrial Specialised School and was upgraded in the same year to the Huainan Coal Industry Specialised School.1949 年后，学校于 1950 年改建为淮南工业专门学校，同年升格为淮南煤业专科学校。
