Hebei Medical University is a provincial public medical university in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China, and a key provincial backbone institution co-built by the Hebei Provincial People's Government, the National Health Commission and the Ministry of Education.河北医科大学是一所位于中国河北省石家庄市的省属公立医科大学，是河北省重点骨干大学，由河北省人民政府、国家卫生健康委员会和教育部共建。

Its lineage runs back to the Beiyang Medical College founded in Tianjin in 1894 by Li Hongzhang, which the university describes as China's first government-run Western medicine school, while the present institution was formed by a three-college merger in May 1995 and is one of China's oldest medical schools.该校的源流可追溯至1894年李鸿章在天津创办的北洋医学堂，学校称其为中国近代第一所官办西医院校，现行建制则于1995年5月由三校合并组建，是中国历史最悠久的医学院校之一。

History

• In 1881 Li Hongzhang, viceroy of Zhili and minister of Beiyang, accepted a proposal from John Kenneth Mackenzie of the London Missionary Society and established the Viceroy's Hospital Medical School in Tianjin.1881年，直隶总督兼北洋大臣李鸿章接受基督教伦敦会传教医师马根济的建议，在天津创办「天津西医医学馆」。
